Summer has come to the beach front town of Goderich, ON, a picturesque small town with sandy beaches, walking trails and campgrounds. It holds the auspicious title of “Canada’s Prettiest Town,” and is delightfully reflected in both long-time residents and those who may visit for a small adventure to the lakeshore. For both those residents and intrepid adventurers, Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) is ecstatic to promote an upcoming healthcare camp – the Discovery Healthcare Camp.
On July 8-12th, Gateway CERH in collaboration with the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry and Huron Health System is hosting this camp. This is a camp for high school students to explore practical skills and pathways to healthcare. It will feature workshops that include clinical skills and presentations from local healthcare providers. Starting from 2022 and continuing in 2023, Gateway CERH is hosting a third year of summer camp exploratory experience.
Medical Students from the Schulich School including Deaglan Arnold, Brigida DiMatteo, Benson Law, and Sinead Osivwemu met with Gateway CERH student research assistants to help plan the upcoming camp.
