Social Science Research Assistant
Qualifications: Currently enrolled or recently completed a bachelor’s degree program in any field of study; health science or social science background would be an asset but not required
Skills:

Well developed written and oral communication skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and graphic skills would be an asset

Completed coursework in research design and/or qualitative analysis would be an asset

Research experience would be an asset

Proven ability to work independently and contribute effectively in a dynamic team environment

Knowledge of rural health issues
Position Description: Coordinate and support, as needed, the research activities of educational partners, rural research chairs, and hospital partners. Involves administrative management, logistics support, and communication. Research is specific to unique rural health issues that affect our agriculture and industrial sector. To date our research has included mental health and resiliency, opiate addiction, and senior isolation, education around the recent legalization of recreational cannabis. The work that is undertaken will make a difference in the lives of community members, ensuring that understanding and actions to promote a more healthy lifestyle is achieved. We see a benefit to growth in the healthcare field in the areas we serve. We provide a platform for introduction to the rural environment for those involved with our educational partners (predominantly students) and researchers working under our Rural Health Research Chairs.
