Gateway CERH Attends 2025 Goderich Mayor’s Luncheon

On May 9, 2025, representatives from Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) had the pleasure of attending the Annual Goderich Mayor’s Luncheon, hosted by the Huron Chamber of Commerce. Gateway CERH was well-represented at the event by Dan Stringer, Gwen Devereaux, Pat Redshaw, Karissa Eckert, and Leslie Walker.

This annual gathering served as a valuable opportunity for Gateway CERH to connect with community leaders, business owners, and local organizations. It was a chance to exchange ideas and gain insights into the priorities and future direction of the Town of Goderich.

Mayor Trevor Bazinet delivered an engaging address, highlighting key issues such as the importance of maintaining local hospital and medical clinic services, addressing mental health and homelessness, and promoting youth engagement in the community.

Guest speakers James Scongack, Chief Operating Officer and Executive VP of Bruce Power, and Jessica Linthorne, CEO of the Nuclear Innovation Institute, shared exciting developments in medical isotopes, STEM education, and nuclear energy. These insights are especially relevant to Gateway CERH’s focus on rural health innovation and its active role in the Southwestern Ontario Isotope Coalition. As a member of the coalition, Gateway CERH is committed to advancing the use of medical isotopes and improving access to cutting-edge diagnostic and treatment tools in rural communities.

The Gateway CERH team appreciated the opportunity to engage with community stakeholders and explore future collaborations that support rural health innovation.

The upcoming webinar on June 3rd, 2025 will focus on the Southwestern Ontario Isotope Coalition. Learn more and register: https://www.gatewayruralhealth.ca/lectureseries
