On April 15, 2025, Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) hosted a Benefitting Rural Area Volunteer Emergency (BRAVE) Firefighter screening event in Goderich. The BRAVE Firefighter project is dedicated to supporting the health and well-being of rural volunteer firefighters. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers and the Goderich firefighters who participated in this event.
The BRAVE Firefighter project is designed to provide free, accessible medical screenings to volunteer firefighters. Alongside these screenings, participants also receive an educational session on cardiovascular health, equipping them with the knowledge to better understand, monitor, and maintain their heart health.
Gateway CERH has conducted pilot screening events in firehalls including Ethel Firehall, Seaforth and Bayfield.
