Gateway CERH Accepts Cheque from BASF Canada

Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) was pleased to officially accept a cheque from BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada Inc. last week following a third-place finish in the 2025 Growing Home program in Ontario.

Earlier this year, Gateway CERH was honoured to be named one of the top 3 organizations in Ontario in the Growing Home program, which recognizes groups making a positive impact in agricultural communities. Thanks to community support and public voting, Gateway CERH secured third place and $5,000 in funding to support the Farmers’ Safety & Well-Being Project

According to the National Survey of Farmers’ Mental Health (2021), one in four Canadian farmers felt their life was not worth living, wished they were dead, or thought of taking their own life in the last 12 months. This funding will help Gateway CERH continue to expand outreach efforts and provide meaningful programming to those navigating the challenges of the agriculture sector.

The cheque presentation was a moment of celebration, acknowledging the hard work of the Gateway CERH team and the importance of supporting farmers' mental health and wellness in rural Ontario. Gateway CERH is incredibly grateful to BASF Agricultural Solutions Canada Inc. for their investment in rural health, and to everyone who voted and supported them throughout the campaign.

With this support, Gateway CERH’s work continues! Stay tuned as work towards strengthening farmers’ safety and well-being research, programming, supports and outreach continues.
