Rural health and healthy active aging initiatives were showcased at a conference hosted by HelpAge Canada. On June 3rd, Gateway CERH, Research Assistant and Project Lead, Amy Sturgeon, presented on Gateway CERH's programs that promote the well-being of older adults in rural communities.
Sturgeon presented on the service and health barriers Canadians face by living in rural areas while sharing the work Gateway does to combat these gaps. More specifically, Sturgeon shared Gateway’s new programs: “Legion Learning” and “Legion Lounge”. These are both made possible through the TD Ready Commitment Connected Communities Fund and the New Horizons for Seniors Program funding, and the dedicated work of Gateway CERH's research assistants
