Share Your Voice: Aging in Place - Huron Survey Now Open for Huron County Adults 55+

Aging in Place – Huron is a pilot research program by Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) dedicated to engaging with and learning from older adults about aging in our community.

The pilot is inspired by the World Health Organization's Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) framework, which recognizes that healthy aging extends beyond medical care. ICOPE focuses on helping people stay healthy and independent by supporting key areas like mobility, cognition, vision, hearing, nutrition, and emotional health. It also considers the support in a person’s environment and community that helps them stay connected and live independently.

To better understand these experiences locally, Gateway CERH has launched a survey for adults aged 55 and older living in Huron County.

The information collected will help guide future research and community initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for older adults. By hearing directly from community members, we can better understand the challenges people face, identify the supports they need, and inform services that help people age in place.

Participation is voluntary, and all responses will remain confidential. If you are 55 years of age or older and living independently in Huron County, we encourage you to take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your experiences. If you are under 55 and know someone who may be interested, please consider sharing the survey with them.

Your voice matters. By participating, you will help build a better understanding of the needs of older adults in Huron County and contribute to creating a healthier, more age-friendly community for the future.

Thank you for supporting this important research.
