My name is Sage Milne, and I am an MSc student working under the supervision of Dr. Leith Deacon at the School of Environmental Design and Rural Development at the University of Guelph. I am also a research assistant at Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health (CERH) and have worked on various projects such as the Lecture Series and more.
I am writing this post as I was hoping for support in promoting the dissemination of a research survey. This survey is concerned with understanding healthcare access in the rural communities of Huron, Perth, Grey and Bruce Counties amid rural hospital emergency department closures.
Participation in the survey is completely voluntary and anonymous. It will take less than five minutes to complete. Questions in the survey will include questions about access to a primary healthcare provider and emergency departments. Â

The survey timeline for this project is for two months between November 2025 and January 2026. Â
This study has been reviewed and received ethics clearance through the University of Guelph’s Research Ethics Board. This project has been reviewed by the Research Ethics Board for compliance with federal guidelines for research involving human participants (REB 1741). Â
