Cancer Screening at Gateway CERH

Gateway CERH is proud to be the only Ontario finalist in MaRS and the Canadian Cancer Society’s Rural & Remote Community Cancer Screening Challenge. This innovation initiative aims to address disparities in cancer screening across southwestern Ontario and improve access in rural and remote communities. Through the challenge, Gateway CERH is applying innovative approaches across its projects to support equitable healthcare, engage communities, and enhance early detection outcomes for residents in rural areas.

Project Background

Our team is dedicated to improving cancer screening access and outcomes in rural and remote communities across southwestern Ontario. These initiatives aim to address disparities in early detection and provide communities with innovative, accessible solutions. Recently, we celebrated being named the only Ontario finalist in the MaRS and Canadian Cancer Society Rural & Remote Community Cancer Screening Challenge. This exciting project, developed in partnership with MaRS and the Canadian Cancer Society, allows Gateway CERH to bring forward new approaches that engage communities, promote equitable healthcare, and support better cancer screening for residents in rural areas.

This project team brings together a diverse group of individuals united by a shared commitment to improving access to cancer screening in rural and remote communities. The team combines strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of social systems with experience in education and mentorship. They also bring practical knowledge of healthcare to design and implement solutions that are accessible, equitable, and community-centered. With a focus on connecting rural residents to care and streamlining processes, Gateway CERH leverages its varied perspectives to address challenges and create meaningful impact.
