ABOUT
Rural communities and local businesses in Huron and Perth Counties have been uniquely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health has partnered with the Ontario Government and other local partners to understand the impacts of COVID-19 on mental health and substance use in rural Huron and Perth workplaces.
Be Well Work Well is a community-based research project that aims to strengthen Huron-Perth rural communities by ensuring that the voices of local employers and their employees are heard and reflected in the solutions. By joining communities together through roundtable discussions and focus groups, the project will support the resiliency of local rural businesses, employers, and employees into the future.
The Solutions Event
The Solutions Event was held on November 17, 2022 and the day focused on connection, collaboration and collective work to develop solutions for all. Discussions and activities were future-oriented and solution-focused and at the end of the day everyone walked away with an action plan to implement in their own individual sphere.
Final Report Complete
Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health support The Be Well Work Well project. The formal research project is now complete, and sustainability planning is ongoing to implement community action around the recommendations identified through the project.
The Final Report was completed in January 2023, and outlines the research methodologies, community development strategies employed, research findings, recommendations and more. Cultivating Resilience in the Ag Community
Aimed for service providers that work within and surrounding the agricultural community. This workshop helps to gain a better understanding of the experiences faced in this profession and develop strategies expand the resilience within the agricultural community. Facilitated by Lauren VanEwyk, the webinars cover a diverse range of topics aimed at providing strategies and resources to be well at work.
