Casandra has worked in the non-profit industry for close to 20 years as a consultant in strategic planning, communication, and fundraising. She returned to academia to pursue her doctoral studies with research interests in women-led rural social enterprise, community development, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the health and wellness of the rural labour market, specifically rural healthcare workers. Casandra is the chair of the board for the Canadian Centre for Rural Creativity, has recently become a Research Chair on the Rural Healthcare Workforce at Gateway CERH and runs a voluntary community group called The Changent Circle that brings together climate change experts and community to encourage awareness, education, and action towards climate change.
