Gateway is extremely proud and excited to announce that the recruitment stage for our Retiring Well: Considering the Costs of Good Health program has officially opened! It is extremely difficult to understand, predict, and prepare for your retirement and the increased and unexpected costs of maintaining good health. With this program we aim to increase the awareness of the health-related financial costs of ageing and to help our participants better understand how to manage these costs post retirement. We are looking for individuals who are looking to gain information and prepare for their retirement, as well as individuals looking to mentor others in their preparation stages, or mentors who are also looking to learn more! Check out our webpage on Retiring Well to learn how you can get more information on the program, or apply to participate directly from our page by filling out our extremely brief application form!

Gateway’s big event of 2014 included a hockey game featuring a plethora of acclaimed past and present NHL and other professional-level stars. With over 700 people in attendance the crowds roared, cheered, and laughed as the Goderich YMCA rumbled with excitement. The Hometown Heroes: Raise a Little Health 2014 event split profits of over $40,000 between Gateway, the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital, and the Goderich YMCA and tremendous help from the office of MP Ben Lobb, helped raise awareness of common rural health issues, and brought the community together, attracting guests from all over Ontario. Gateway is proud to announce that the Hometown Heroes event will run again in the summer of 2015. This year there are plans to produce and sell 1200 tickets, nearly double that of the amount offered last year! Preparations for the upcoming event have already begun, and we hope that the end result will be one magnificent night that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
