Shayna Melady is completing her Master of Public Health practicum with Gateway, and will be assisting with a variety of projects over the next eight months. Shayna completed her undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Science specializing in Health Promotion at Dalhousie University. After moving back to Huron County from Halifax, she began her career in Public Health. During this time, Shayna decided to peruse her Masters of Public Health through the University of Waterloo while working full-time. She is passionate about all things rural, particularly mental health and health equity.
Shayna loves to travel, although always finds herself returning back to the beautiful area of Huron and Perth counties. While not travelling, Shayna can be found spending time with her family and friends, playing hockey, or spending time outdoors canoeing, camping, running, or simply sitting on the patio. She is a smoothie-loving, sunset-chasing wanderer, and always planning her next adventure. Shayna is excited to get back to her rural roots, and work with Gateway to improve the health of our community. On September 11th, 2019, Huron Perth Chicken Farmers played golf to raise money to support Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health. Farm Credit achieved a hole in one! In addition to golf, there was also an auction. Vanden Heuvel Structures Ltd. donated a kayak with the help of Ben Lobb (MP). The proceeds from this kayak went to the Baker Centre for Pancreatic Cancer in honour of Brian Falconer. Thank you all for your support and generosity!
